Danskos originate in Denmark, a country with a world-renowned tradition of engineering clogs that are exceptionally friendly to feet and constructed of the finest materials available. Soles and footbeds are contour molded to support the anatomical curves of your feet, while polyurethane outsoles provide rebound and energy return with every step Dansko's rich, warm leathers are tanned with natural plant extracts, minerals and alkalines to produce deep, luxurious colors and long-wearing strength. Dansko clogs proudly carry "The Seal of Acceptance of the American Podiatric Medical Association."
Dansko Means Quality!
The Feel!
Dansko's generous toe box and smooth, seamless heel counter (in closed back models) should permit a secure but non-pinching fit that allows for some slight stretching of our oiled, nubuck and aniline leather uppers over time. The anatomically contoured footbed should support your foot evenly from heel to toe, while the patented sole construction provides both stability and added bounce to your stride. Your heel action, along with Dansko's breathable leather uppers and innersoles, should allow air to circulate into the footbed, helping to keep your feet warm in cool temperatures, and cool in warm.
The Fit!
Dansko clogs should naturally cradle your foot, and should not pinch, bind or cramp in any way. The generous fit afforded by Dansko's distinctly high toe-box should allow for proper circulation, reducing fatigue and enabling your toes to spread naturally as you walk. In addition, your heel should lift up and down with every step, even in the closed heel models (there should be a pencil's space room between your heel and the plastic backing). As with all hand-lasted footwear, slight variations in fit may be expected.
The Leathers!
Dansko, takes tremendous pride in selecting our leathers and tanning methods to make every product original and unique. Please keep in mind that leather is organic, it breathes and absorbs. Occasionally, the natural leather upper or lining will react with your body chemistry, transferring color onto your feet or hosiery. Don't be alarmed; this is natural, not a defect. You may also find naturally occurring marks or blemishes in the leather, or minor gradations in color due to the nature of the tanning process. These should not, however, affect the quality and durability of your Danskos.
W hen KEEN footwear was founded in 2003, they made two promises:
1. To create a company where they would be true to the core values that they have as individuals, supportive of their employees, conscious of their environment, active in their local community and creators of a workplace where they can have fun each day.
2. To constantly innovate and make each new product line better than the last – always creating products that perform for adventurous, active individuals, regardless of where their adventures might take them.
They adopted an approach that would create hybrid products for the hybrid lifestyle so many of us have chosen. They've applied this approach to an expanding array of products meant for trails, boulevards and anywhere in between. In the process, they've tried to match beauty and function with performance and grace. They believe in the freedom and power of the individual – and strive to create a company that will champion those ideals and allow them to develop great products that encourage such freedom.
Birkenstock Distribution USA, Inc. began over 30 years ago when our founder, Margot Fraser, had a dream of sharing the comfort and health benefits of Birkenstock footwear. A few years earlier, while visiting a German resort, she had tried on her first pair and was extremely impressed at how good they felt. From there, Margot learned that the original Birkenstock contoured footbed was invented and manufactured in Germany by Konrad Birkenstock in 1897. In fact, the Birkenstock family has been shoemakers for over 225 years – more than two centuries of creating and perfecting a tradition of walking comfort.
In 1966, Margot began importing Birkenstock footwear from Germany in small amounts and thus Birkenstock Distribution USA, Inc. was born. The business grew every year and thousands of satisfied customers asked for more styles so they could wear their Birkenstock shoes in more places.
Today, Birkenstock Distribution USA, Inc., has enjoyed enormous success and continues to grow with many different styles of sandals and shoes. With the corporate offices and distribution center located in Novato, California, their philosophy of providing comfortable and healthy footwear carries over to their company environment.
